Business Development Manager

The award reflects the firm’s ambitious growth strategy and central to that is the expansion of our corporate services. The role holder will play a pivotal role in helping the practice group to achieve its growth goals. You will have direct responsibility for developing and delivering the BD and marketing strategy for the corporate group which includes corporate transactions, employment, commercial/tech and commercial dispute resolution services.  You will work across these service lines to bring together a comprehensive and compelling offering, targeting ambitious and entrepreneurial mid-market businesses, predominantly based in London and the South.

Due to an internal move, we are now looking to hire an experienced BD professional, preferably with experience of targeting mid-market entrepreneurial businesses within a professional services environment. You will work closely with the Head of Corporate to develop and deliver our ambitious growth strategy, and collaborate with practice group team leaders to develop and implement their action plans. You will be seen as a key member of the team, proactively contributing, influencing and instilling BD best practice in the firm.

This role acts as a ‘sales enabler’ in supporting lawyers to win work, as opposed to being a direct sales role. Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • Strategy: Own, develop and deliver the BD strategy for corporate, collaborating with the BD&M team and key stakeholders i.e. group head, team leaders and lawyers
  • Lead generation: Identify prospects and engagement opportunities, tracking progress through effective pipeline management
  • Campaign development: Develop and implement multi-channel campaigns with wider marketing team
  • Pitches: Project manage all aspects of the tender process from initial qualification through to proposals, presentations and debriefs
  • Client engagement: Oversee key accounts, client reviews and ways to improve client experience
  • Internal and external profile: Build your own peer network within the market with clients and intermediaries, acting as an ambassador for the brand. Champion internal BD initiatives across our offices, acting as a coach and mentor to develop BD skills and best practice.

About you:

You will be a fantastic communicator who loves building relationships internally and externally. You will have extensive experience supporting professionals in lead generation and conversion, pitches and key account management. You will also have proven experience of delivering multi-channel, lead generating marketing campaigns. Additionally, a passion for utilising technology, leveraging data in decision making and being able to adapt to change will be highly beneficial. In return, you will be joining a well-established, innovative BD&M team and driving the agenda for this enterprising and ambitious corporate group.
