Double awards win for the Cripps corporate team

10 Feb 2023

The corporate team at Cripps has, once again, reinforced its place as the South East’s leading law firm, winning twice at the South East Dealmakers Awards.

Cripps was awarded Corporate Law Firm of the Year, and also picked up the award for Private Equity / Venture Capital Deal of the Year for its work acting on behalf of HiiRoc in its Series B funding round.

In 2022, the corporate team completed in excess of 44 deals across the year, with a combined total value exceeding £1bn. The award judges cited that the ‘South East was a strong region for the Cripps corporate M&A team, with nearly half of the deals based in the region’. Coupling this with the teams expansion by over 12%, has led to Cripps being a standout law firm in the South East.

For the Private Equity / Venture Capital Deal of the Year, the judges acknowledged the deal has contributed to the ‘hydrogen economy’s shift to Net Zero’. HiiRoc was recently recognised as the FT Tech Champions 2022 in the energy category, in addition to winning both KPMG UK Tech Innovator and KPMG Global Tech Innovator awards.

Established and organised by Insider Media, the Dealmakers awards celebrate the achievements of the region’s leading mergers and acquisitions professionals, as well as the work of corporate finance professionals, accountants, bankers and funders.

Victoria Symons, partner and head of the corporate practice commented: “We are absolutely delighted to be awarded Corporate Law Firm of the Year. I work with a really talented team who are all dedicated to achieving the best for our clients. In the last year we have seen an increase in deal values, deal complexity and cross-border transactions, so to be recognised and acknowledged in this way is a real testament to the team.

We are also thrilled to be collecting an award for our work with HiiRoc. It’s an inspirational business, and ensuring we met the needs of the different investor groups was crucial to the success of the project and where we made a difference.”

It has been a challenging year for many and it was great to see so many of the region’s professionals being celebrated. Congratulations to all.”
