Cripps advise Cadogan Estates on its acquisition of The Draycott Hotel
Cripps’ corporate team has advised long-standing client Cadogan Estates on its acquisition of The Draycott Hotel LLP, a five-star boutique hotel located in the heart of Chelsea.
Cadogan is a dynamic property manager, investor and developer with a 300-year family history. Spanning over 93 acres within the prestigious Chelsea and Knightsbridge neighbourhood, the Cadogan Estates portfolio includes historic King’s Road, Sloane Street and Cadogan Hall.
Built in 1890, The Draycott Hotel is a Victorian property comprising of three red-brick town houses on Cadogan Gardens. Following a sensitive restoration, it will be reopening as The Chelsea Townhouse, operated for Cadogan by Iconic Luxury Hotels.
It will join Cadogan’s existing hotel portfolio of The Cadogan Hotel, operated by Belmond, The Beaverbrook Town House and 11 Cadogan Gardens and Apartments, also operated by Iconic Luxury Hotels.
The Cripps team, led by Victoria Symons and Jason Tann, included Laura Wilson, Andreea Rusu, Peter Mayhew (all specialists in corporate), Kathryn Rogers (commercial), Emma Saunders (employment), and Alex Gallyer (commercial real estate). Cripps assisted with the drafting and negotiation of a complex termination agreement of the hotel management company, working alongside Bird&Bird.
Commenting on the support provided by Cripps, Luke Hamilton-Jones of Cadogan said: “We have worked with the commercial real estate team at Cripps for a long time, but this is the first corporate transaction we have completed together. It has been a pleasure to work with Victoria, Jason and the wider team, and we appreciated the team’s guidance on the nuances of corporate law.”
